Marin Aging and Disability Institute

MADI Mission:

Bringing aging and disability stakeholders together to advance equity and improve lives through collaboration, advocacy, and innovation.

The Marin Aging and Disability Institute, LLC. (MADI) was formed to advance collaborative solutions to address the growing needs of Marin County’s older adults and individuals with disabilities. MADI’s mission is to bring aging and disability stakeholders together to advance equity and improve lives through advocacy, collaboration, and innovation.

Advocacy: MADI fosters alignment among aging and disability advocates to tackle areas of common interest and amplify impact. Areas of focus include caregiving, housing, transportation, employment and more. Through coordinated aggressive and progressive joint advocacy, MADI helps create greater awareness of the lived experiences of older adults and people with disabilities, reframe narratives and promote more inclusive policies and practices at the local, state and national levels.

Collaboration: MADI brings together aging and disability stakeholders to define a common agenda and shared goals around advancing equity for older adults and people with disabilities. By identifying and analyzing the intersectional impacts of age, functional status, race, ethnicity, income and sexual orientation, this collaborative impact initiative informs MADI’s advocacy activities and helps promote a Marin that is fair and inclusive for all.

Innovation: MADI is a leader in working with towns and cities to create combined age and disability friendly plans in Marin, providing engaging and participatory trainings on ageism and ableism and ensuring the Marin Disability Coalition addresses the most critical issues affecting people with disabilities in our community. We are working to ensure there is inclusivity for all people, all ages, all abilities.
