Marin Aging and Disability Institute

MADI Mission:

Bringing aging and disability stakeholders together to advance equity and improve lives through collaboration, advocacy, and innovation.

The Marin Aging and Disability Institute, LLC. (MADI) was formed to advance collaborative solutions to address the growing needs of Marin County’s older adults and individuals with disabilities. MADI’s mission is to bring aging and disability stakeholders together to advance equity and improve lives through advocacy, collaboration, and innovation.

Advocacy: MADI will foster alignment among aging and disability advocates to tackle areas of common interest and amplify impact. Areas of focus will include caregiving, housing, transportation, employment and more. Through coordinated aggressive and progressive joint advocacy, MADI will help create greater awareness of the lived experiences of older adults and people with disabilities, reframe narratives and promote more inclusive policies and practices at the local, state and national levels.

Collaboration: MADI will bring together aging and disability stakeholders to define a common agenda and shared goals around advancing equity for older adults and people with disabilities. By identifying and analyzing the intersectional impacts of age, functional status, race, ethnicity, income and sexual orientation, this collaborative impact initiative will inform MADI’s advocacy activities and help promote a Marin that is fair and inclusive for all.

Innovation: MADI’s physical campus in San Rafael will include fully accessible, state-of-the-art designed office and gathering spaces that promote information exchange, coordination and comradery among aging and disability stakeholders. Together with MADI’s advocacy efforts and equity focus, MADI’s campus will symbolize and help generate new person-centered and self-directed solutions to better serve Marin’s older adults and people with disabilities.
